From Participant Media, the new documentary about the BP Oil Spill premiers March 9, 2014.

It happened on April 20, 2010.
People died, people suffered and suffer still as a result of this disaster.
Animals and the environment have been affected detrimentally also.
Will the truth surface?
Will greed ever end?
Will humans ever learn they cannot control everything,
that perhaps this dependence on oil is not a good thing?
Time will tell when when we finally run ourselves out of this double edged sword aka oil.

Oil’d ~ A video about Oil spilled in the Gulf 4/20/2010

A year ago, a massive oil spill began in the Gulf. The entire country was glued to the news until the well was capped, and then we forgot about it.

As the year anniversary was fast approaching I became curious, just how much oil was that exactly? Where would it have gone? What I found was shocking.

So in an effort to further our discussion on oil dependency I created this short animation. I’ve spent all of my free time in the last month putting this together to help illustrate just how dependent we truly are on oil.

Chemical Used on Oil Spills

Many people will be exposed to chemicals in air, water, sand, soil, and food as a result of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
It is important to understand the potential toxic effects and take appropriate protective actions to reduce exposure and harm.

This report describes the toxicity of chemicals in crude oil and in the dispersants currently being used in the Gulf area.
